The history of Ayurveda extending to millenniums is well known for its aphrodisiac section called Vajikarana shastra. Milleniums before modern medicine got shaped, Ayurveda’s magic mantras for efficient sexual health existed.

Vajeekarana is considered as one of the eight main branches of Ayurveda. Rejuvenation and virility are often considered together because they are both concerned with the preservation and maintenance of vitality. Both the procedures are responsible for healthy reproduction. Rejuvenation is responsible for production of healthy cells, which would replace the dead and worn out cells, whereas virilisation brings about healthy and desired progeny.

A relatively new therapy that has been circulating within New Zealand is the ancient medicine of Ayurveda. Acharya charaka states that the root cause of all the disorders is mandagni. Raktarshas is one such disease which specifically occurs in persons with mandagni and malabadhata. One of the anal disorder, the internal hemorrhoids i .e engorged haemorrohidal venous plexus in anal canal, which is described in contemporary science can be effectively correlated with the disease raktarshas.

Almost 40% of people develop internal haemorrooids once they have entered middle age because of the influence of predisposing factors such as excessive intake of spicy fried food, alocohol causing costipation, adopting continuously erect or standing posture because of specific occupation etc.

Obesity (Sthaulya) is now recognised as a major threat to public health and is infact a worldwide epidemic. Obesity is now increasing at an alarming rate among the children and youth in Asia for the past three decades due to rapid mechanisation of the society and the influence of western culture. Data from two NHANES surveys reveal that prevalence obesity has tripled in the last three decades as compared to the mid seventies. This increasing rate raises concern because of its implications on general health.

Rasendra saara san’graha, written in 14th Century is an archetypal textbook in Rasasaastra in structure and content. The author, Gopalakrishna Bhat reveals his identity in the very beginning of the textbook. This book represents the rich alchemical tradition in India during San’graha period. Development of Rasasaastra & Siddha sytem of medicine was at their highest leap in San’graha period, especially in Chikitsarasatantra period, where most of the classical works have been written. The upsurge in medicinal usage of mineral preparations got its maximum pace in this period.
