All of us can go without food for weeks, without water for a few days, but try holding your breath for a few minutes. Tulasi: The holy basil

The name ‘tulasi’ would not raise a question mark on any Indians face. Albeit, the name may vary according to the regional language but the herb definitely is known to almost everybody, not only for its medicinal properties but also for its holy image. Tulasi is worshipped as the embodiment of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and the wife of Lord Vishnu – the god from the holy trinity who preserves life. So it is planted around temples and in the courtyards of private residences to purify air around them and invite the gods into the area.

NEEM: The Tree of past, present and Future

The Neem tree has been known as the wonder tree for centuries in the Indian subcontinent. It has become important in the global context today because it finds solutions to the various problems which we are facing. Neem is an evergreen tree of the tropics and sub-tropics. It belongs to the family Meliaceae and is becoming increasingly popular due to its insect repellant traits and its use in medical science.

Neem is a medium sized to large tree characterized by its short, straight bole, furrowed, dark brown to gray bark, and dense rounded crown of pinnate leaves.
